LINKING ENVIRONMENTAL ASPECTS WITH THE DESIGN PROCESS

The process of product design and product development varies from company to company and involves many different approaches and tools. Consequently, the ISO/TR 14062 Technical report "Environ-mental management - Integrating envi-ronmental aspects into product design and development" presents a general model of the product design and development process. The model (see slide to the right) divides the process into six typical stages:
  • Planning
  • Conceptual design
  • Detailed design
  • Testing/prototype
  • Production and marked launch
  • Product review
