Institute of Solid State Physics (University of Latvia) in co-operation with Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Microintegration of Berlin (IZM) on behalf of the European Commission offers a workshop on eco-design on June 3 in Riga. The workshop takes place in Small hall of University of Latvia, Raina street 19. Planned time of the beginning is 9.30. The workshop is free of charge. Workshop hand-outs and catering are included. The workshop is offered first of all for small and medium sized enterprises in the electrical and electronics sector, but representatives from governmental authorities, professional associations and NGO's also are welcome.

This Europe-wide information campaign, which includes 28 workshops in all Europe, introduces the legislative framework, strategies for greening the supply chain and lean environmental management. An active base for workshop series is EU Directive 2002/95/EC on the restriction of hazardous substances (RoHS), which includes lead free soldering, and comes into effect in 2006. The core part of the workshop prepared and represented by Fraunhofer Institute is devoted to the basics of eco-design. The second part of the workshop is planned for the discussions. All participants are welcome to present their experience focused on practical usability for well defined specific problem or task.

Workshop in Riga will be offered for all Baltic States. Therefore the main language for the workshop is English.
