CONSUMER ORIENTATION

The private and professional consumers represent a major driver for EcoDesign.
The consumers' awareness of the benefits of green procurement has increased during the last decade. Throughout Europe (and especially in the northern part) environmental organizations, consumer organizations, official bodies etc. have increased the awareness on the risk for environmental and health related problems caused by electronic products.
Most consumers still focus at parameters as price, design, technical features, and quality in their purchasing. But the products' environmental performance is nowadays often ranked as the fourth or fifth important parameter, when consumers buy electronic products.
